February and March 2008 Student Athletes of the Month
Josh & Jesse Glenn
Coach Marshall's Comments
I don't even know where to begin when it comes to expressing how proud I am of these two athletes. Josh and Jesse have been training with Team Marshall for almost five years now. These two young men are like little brothers to me. I know them so well, but yet not a training day goes by that they do not impress me, inspire me and remind me why I love my life, my facility and my job so much. This may sound "deep", but they are very special kids!
I have been training and coaching athletes for almost twenty-five years now, and I have worked with some great athletes in almost every sport at every level from youth sports to the collegiate and professional level. In all of my years and experience as a strength and conditioning coach I have never worked with anyone who works harder or shows more focus, discipline and enthusiasm than Josh and Jesse Glenn.
It is amazing to me that Josh is only sixteen years old and Jesse is only fourteen years old, because they have such a mature work ethic. They show up for their training at Team Marshall after a full day of elite level gymnastics training at Scats Gymnastics Center in Huntington Beach. Many athletes, at any age, any level would show-up tired and relatively unmotivated after a day like theirs. Not Josh or Jesse! These guys show up focused and "fired-up" like two Athletic Warriors fully prepared for battle! They train with passion, intensity and absolute focus every rep, of every set, of every training session.
Josh and Jesse have "dreams" of being U.S. Olympic gymnasts one day. They have turned those "dreams" into goals by putting them into action and doing everything right to reach those goals. These two athletes love their sport and they love everything that has to do with getting better at their sport. This mindset never more apparent than when they train. They train with so much heart and enthusiasm that they make even the most grueling workouts actually seem fun. In fact I believe that to them it is just that... fun! That is exactly how it should be!
Josh and Jesse Glenn have the kind of personalities that match their amazing athleticism. They are both extremely intelligent, funny, kind, polite and confident yet humble. These qualities have been instilled in them by the most incredible parents and family I have ever had the honor to work with. Talk about a "Team". These two young men have the "ultimate support system" in their very loving family.
Josh and Jesse Glenn. Look at their faces and remember their names — because these two young athletic warriors are destined for success in Sports and in Life!
